Planning Application Submitted for Playing Field

Thursday, January 10th, 2019

Not all of our design schemes are for buildings – we can also prepare plans for external improvement or landscaping projects.

One recent example is that of a series of enhancements to a public playing field and recreation area in a Buckinghamshire village. Working together with the local Tennis Club, Parish Council and other stakeholders we prepared plans for introducing two new mini tennis courts, an adjacent footpath for use by parents and school children and also improvements to the on-site car park and other footpaths.

Sometimes, external landscaping schemes can present interesting challenges – trees may need to be removed or cut back, for example, or underground drainage may be affected; occasionally an archaeological or environmental report is requested. With this present application, we acted as adviser and agent for the Parish Council to look after any issues raised during the planning process. We look forward to hearing the outcome of the planning application shortly.

Chinnor Rugby Club Sports New Entrance!

Wednesday, September 21st, 2016

283-front-entrance-rotated-2Over the summer, PCMS Design has been working on a local project for Chinnor Rugby Club, which is based in Thame, South Oxfordshire.

The club has teams of all ages that play in both local and national leagues. There is a clubhouse building that acts not only as a team pavilion, but also has a popular bar and two function rooms which are hired out for events and functions. However, the managing committee had a real desire to improve the clubhouse to create a new welcoming entrance and stairway, a larger refurbished kitchen and also space for a club shop and store room.

The PCMS Design solution was a two-storey front extension which incorporated a new steel and glass staircase alongside an impressive entrance with double height windows and modern glazed entrance doors. As well as taking the club through the design and planning process, we carried out the contract administration and made regular visits to site to check on the progress of the construction firm, Classic Builders (Watlington) Ltd.

Ready just in time for the 2016 Autumn season, the clubhouse is now eminently presentable for visitors and club members and the new kitchen has already enabled the catering offer to be expanded.

Club President John Ashfield said: “Thanks to PCMS Design and all their design and project management experience, we now have a much improved clubhouse. Alex and his team were invaluable in helping us see our project through to completion on time and within budget.”

Planning Permission Secured for New Sports Pavilion in Chinnor

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2013
PCMS is delighted that planning permission has been granted by South Oxfordshire District Council for a high profile community project in the Oxfordshire town of Chinnor.
The scheme is to replace an old sports and social pavilion – which is in a very bad state of repair – with a modern purpose built facility. The construction site is on the edge of a large playing field area which has football pitches and tennis courts.
