Our team was delighted to hear last week that we have been shortlisted for a Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Central Region Building Excellence Award 2019.
We are hopeful that our new build sports hall and six classroom construction project at Henlow Academy will achieve success in the ‘Best Educational Building’ category. The project team including Central Bedfordshire Council, Henlow Academy, Cox Clifford Partnership, BSD Consulting Engineers, Marstan BDB and Borras Construction are very pleased that the project has been nominated.
This is our eighth consecutive year of being shortlisted for an Award, and we are all looking forward to attending the black tie Awards Ceremony in Milton Keynes in April. Regional category winners are put forward to the National LABC Awards.
Each year, the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Awards are held to recognise the very best design and highest quality standards in the construction industry.
For the past seven years, a number of our projects have been nominated for an Award and this year was no exception. We had projects in two categories. The first was Best Public Service Building for a project to extend the Ashridge Estate Office near Tring for the National Trust; the second was Best Educational Building for a new free-standing nursery on the site of Clophill St Mary’s CofE Lower School.
Last Friday evening, our team attended the Central Region Awards ceremony in Milton Keynes. Competition in both categories was stiff, with entries from some particularly large and high profile projects. Although not successful ourselves, we would like to congratulate all of the winners on the night, and look forward to continuing our very strong and positive partnership with Central Region Building Control teams.
We are delighted to announce that PCMS Design has been shortlisted in the 2018 Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Central Region Building Excellence Awards.
We have been nominated in two categories this year – Best Public Service Building for a project to refurbish and extend the National Trust Estate Office at Ashridge Park, and Best Educational Building for our design and construction management of the new pre-school Building at Clophill St Mary’s School in Bedfordshire.
This is our seventh consecutive year of receiving a nomination and our team is really looking forward to attending the black tie Awards Ceremony in Milton Keynes on Friday 25th May. Category winners are put forward to the National LABC Awards ceremony in November.
Our team was delighted last Friday to attend the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Central Region Awards ceremony in Milton Keynes. This Black Tie awards dinner is held each year to recognise and celebrate the very best construction projects in the area in a number of different categories.
This year, PCMS Design was a finalist in two awards categories. The first was Best Public Service Building for our work on a new Community Pavilion for Chinnor Parish Council. This large mixed use building incorporates changing rooms, a social hub including function room, as well as the Parish Council office.
The second finalist nomination was Best Educational Project for our design and project management of a new three classroom block on the site of Biggleswade Academy, with some facilities specially designed for pupils with physical and sensory disabilities.
We were honoured to receive these nominations and to attend the ceremony with clients, contractors and building control representatives involved in each construction project, and would like to congratulate all of the winners from the evening.
We were delighted yesterday to hear about our nomination for two Central Region 2017 LABC Awards. LABC (Local Authority Building Control) organise the regional awards each year to recognise excellence within the construction industry.
Our nominations are in the categories of Best Public Service Building for Chinnor Community Pavilion, and Best Educational Building for a new 3-classroom block on the site of Biggleswade Academy.
This is the 6th year running that we have received a nomination, and follows our success last year in the ‘Best Partnership with a LA Building Control Team’ category when we won the Central Region Award.
Our team is looking forward to the Awards Ceremony on Friday 5th March in Milton Keynes, and keeping their fingers crossed for continued success!
PCMS Design was absolutely delighted to win an Award at the Central Region LABC Building Excellence Awards ceremony in April this year, which was presented for the ‘Best Partnership with a Local Authority Building Control Team’. This was in recognition of the close links we share with our partnership authority, Central Bedfordshire Council.
Last night PCMS Design’s team attended the national LABC Building Excellence Grand Finals, where the winners of 2016 regional awards from around Great Britain assembled to find out who was the overall winner of each category.
Hosted by TV presenter Nick Knowles, the huge ceremony took place at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel and was attended by around 750 construction and building control professionals. We gathered together with some of the key members of Central Bedfordshire Council as the Awards were announced, which officially recognise excellence in the profession.
Although not a national award winner of the ‘Best Partnership’ category we were all thrilled to attend, and are now looking forward to entering two of our projects for the 2017 Awards.

LABC (Local Authority Building Control) is an organisation which exists to represent all local authority building control teams in England and Wales.
Following the win, the firm has now been invited to attend the National LABC Awards ceremony in London in November, with the opportunity to win the ‘Best Partnership’ category in England and Wales.
Peter Keates, Head of Development & Regulation at Central Bedfordshire Council, said: “Congratulations to PCMS Design on your success at the Central Building Excellence Awards in winning the Partnership Category – it was well deserved and we look forward to many more years of our ongoing partnership”.
We are delighted to have been in the running once more for a Central Region LABC Building Excellence Award, reaching the top four in the educational projects category.
LABC is a member organisation representing local authority building control officers in England and Wales, and each year they run a series of regional awards to recognise high quality design and construction work.
This is the third year running that PCMS Design has been nominated for an award. Two years ago, our design and project management of a first floor extension to The Lawns in Biggleswade appeared in the ‘Best Sustainable Building’ category, and last year’s entry in the ‘Best Educational Building’ category was for the creation of a new reception classroom for Laburnum Lower School in Sandy.
This year, PCMS Design was once again nominated in the ‘Best Educational Building’ category for the design and project management of a new single storey free-standing reception classroom building at Southill Lower School near Biggleswade. The School is in a Conservation Area, and therefore had to follow strict design guidelines on a site with limited space. The attractive brick and tile building has high levels of insulation and is easy to run and maintain.
The awards event took place at Jury’s Inn, Milton Keynes on 16th May when the achievements of local firms striving for excellence in construction projects were recognised.
We are very pleased to announce that for the second year running, PCMS was shortlisted for a Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Central Region Building Excellence Award.
In 2012 our entry came under the ‘Best Sustainable Project’ category, but this year we were nominated for ‘Best Educational Development’ with our scheme to design and project manage a new Reception Classroom at Laburnum Lower School in Sandy, Bedfordshire.
We were very pleased to be named as a Finalist in the LABC Central Region ‘Best Sustainable Building’ category this year. This was for our design and project management of a first floor extension at The Lawns Early Excellence Centre in Biggleswade – see our April post for full details.
