PCMS is very pleased to have secured Listed Building Consent and Planning Permission for a pretty thatched cottage in the centre of Thame, Oxfordshire. Working as the designer for a local construction firm, we have produced plans for a new rear single storey extension and conservatory.
Because the of the Grade II Listed status of the existing cottage, there were various issues which had to be discussed in advance with the local authority historic buildings officer. Only very minor changes are allowed to the existing 17th century cottage, and the rear extension has been painstakingly designed to harmonise with the existing building, whilst achieving the additional kitchen and bathroom space that the homeowner requires. The Listed Building Consent includes the replacement of some windows in the original cottage with slimline conservation grade double glazed casements, which will help to improve thermal efficiency.
Extra living space will be achieved with the addition of a partially glazed brick, timber and slate conservatory.
The homeowner is really pleased to have gained the planning consents, and we are now working with them to move to the next step of producing a detailed specification and construction drawings so that work to extend their home can begin.
