Planning Permission Success for Hadrian Academy

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013

Great news this week for Hadrian Academy in Dunstable, which has successfully received planning consent for a new two-classroom modular unit on site.
The Headteacher and Governors appointed PCMS for the project to provide additional space for the increase in pupil numbers that will occur as the Academy moves towards primary status from September 2013. In addition to the classroom designs, we prepared a planning submission and followed it through to the Committee stage, where the scheme this week received the go ahead from Central Bedfordshire Council.

The site is accessed via a no-through road in a residential part of Dunstable, and providing adequate parking was an important consideration. However, the Committee was satisfied that planning policies have been met and so the Academy can now move rapidly ahead with construction. PCMS is also handling the procurement of suitable contractors.
Headteacher Sharon Ingham said: “This is a great result for the Academy, as additional classroom provision for our new intake of children in September was urgently required. I am very pleased that PCMS was able to confidently steer us through the planning process, and we now have the positive result that we needed.”
Construction will take place during May – July 2013 and the two classrooms will be ready for the new academic year.
